"Turn ambiguity into clarity, then into reliable systems."

I have spent over 13 years in financial services: first inside a bank, then inside a fintech building its own lending business, and now inside a company that builds lending software for banks and NBFCs. I started at a branch counter with Federal Bank and moved into digital banking there, looking after the loans, investments, insurance, and credit card parts of the bank's mobile app, and later leading its open banking and fintech partnership work. At Groww I helped stand up a new NBFC and the lending stack behind it. At M2P I look after a large part of the core lending platform: loan management, collateral, collections, and reporting. The thread through all of it is the same. I am usually the person brought in when a problem is messy, when nobody is quite sure what the real question is, and when the answer has to hold up for the business and for the engineers building it.

How I work.

Solve the hard problems

When something does not add up, I go back to first principles and work it out myself instead of inheriting how it has always been done. Much of my work sits where money, regulation, and software meet, and that is usually where the inherited answer breaks: interest and schedule behaviour, accounting treatment, reconciliation, migrations, and the edge cases nobody planned for.

Build 0→1, future-proof

I have built new businesses and platforms from nothing: NBFC rails, an in-house origination system, a rule engine, collections, and a configurable collateral platform. I design each of them for reuse and for the cases that have not arrived yet. That costs a little more the first time and saves a great deal afterwards.

Document and teach

Clear writing is part of the product for me. Standards, accounting explainers, and proper answers to hard questions let a team move without waiting on me, and they turn what one person knows into something everyone can use. I lean on AI to do this well, grounded in real code and real business context, which has brought work that once ran into weeks down to hours.

Empower the team

I have carried teams through unsettled stretches and kept them steady. I spend real time helping the people around me get better at the work, and I am usually the one they come to when they are stuck.

What I have worked on.

Across a bank, an NBFC, and a lending platform.

Lending origination

Loan origination systems, rule engines, digital personal loans, personal loan and credit card distribution, partner-led credit.

Loan servicing

Loan management systems, repayment schedules, interest and EMI behaviour, accruals and waivers, restructuring, day-end and month-end processing.

Collateral and securities

Configurable collateral management, and lending against many different kinds of assets.

Collections

Collections systems built in-house, and the repayment and payment workflows around them.

Accounting and reporting

Interest recognition, amortised cost, expected credit loss, reporting data models, and moving loan books between systems and reconciling them.

Customer-facing banking

Mobile banking, corporate banking on app and web, mutual funds and investments, insurance, credit cards, and online account opening.

Rails and partnerships

Open and API banking, neo-banking, payment rails across UPI, IMPS, NEFT and RTGS, and fintech partnerships.

Risk and regulation

KYC, statutory and regulatory reporting, and tracking rule changes to work out what they mean for the product.

Lending Systems
Jun 2024 to Present

M2P builds the payment and lending infrastructure that banks and NBFCs run on. I look after product for a large part of the core lending stack: loan management, collateral and securities, collections, and reporting. Much of the role is connective, working across the stack rather than on one part of it, and I am often pulled into the harder problems on our larger programmes in India and the Middle East. That work ranges from interest accruals and waivers to backdated entries, book migrations, day-end processing, reporting, and accounting treatment.

Alongside that, I conceived a configurable collateral platform, with an orchestration layer of our own, so a lender can lend against a wide range of assets, and saw it through to launch with the team that built it. I also helped land M2P's first loan origination engagement with a bank, from the first conversation through to a signed programme. The rest of my time goes into standards and people: a north star metric framework for the lending org, competitive benchmarking across the product suite, writing standards and accounting explainers, an AI practice the teams use day to day, and a product team of more than ten that I have helped build and continue to mentor.

Groww is best known for investing. I was on the credit side, helping stand up its lending business from the ground up. I was the only product person on the NBFC build through launch, which came within about five months of the final licence from the RBI, and later led product for the full credit platform across origination, loan management, onboarding and KYC, collections, and payments.

Much of that stack was built in-house, including the origination system, the middleware, the first rule engine, and collections, and I owned loan management end to end. The book grew to several hundred crore within months of launch.

Branch counter to open banking
Nine years
Jul 2013 to Jun 2022

Nine years at Federal Bank gave me my grounding in how a bank actually runs. I started at the counter in Bengaluru and Hyderabad, on cash and daily operations, gold loans, account opening and KYC, ATMs, compliance, and regional service quality, and moved into the bank's digital centre in 2017. The projects there covered corporate mobile banking on app and web, a mutual funds platform, online account opening for NRIs, digital personal loans, and an organisation-wide move to Office 365. I was also one of the founding members of the team that rebuilt FedMobile, the bank's flagship app, from the ground up.

From 2020 I owned the loans, investments, insurance, and credit card sections of FedMobile, where we built an in-house robo investment guidance feature and worked out how the app should choose between UPI, IMPS, NEFT, and RTGS for a transfer, depending on which rail was up and quick at the time. In 2021 I moved to open banking, leading API banking, neo-banking, and the bank's work with fintechs. Two major neo-banking products went live in that period and savings account opening grew from a few thousand a month to more than five thousand a day, along with the work of keeping everything stable at that volume. My last year went into setting up a dedicated function for fintech credit partnerships, building a scorecard for evaluating partners, and starting credit work with several well-known fintechs.

Say hello.

Away from work I geek out over personal finance, tech, and productivity. My brain runs almost entirely on science fiction. I enjoy football, puzzles, and the technical brilliance of Formula 1.

I like talking to people working on hard problems in banking, lending, or the software behind them. Happy to trade ideas, swap book recommendations (sci-fi only, of course!), or get into anything genuinely fascinating, quantum entanglement included. I am not available for consulting, advisory, or freelance work, so please skip the cold pitches.
